Day 62: What You Believe Is True

Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.

~ Henry Ford

When a person believes in themselves anything is possible.  They can achieve amazing things, but if a person is convinced that they can’t reach a goal, they won’t.  They’ve already laid out their failure before themselves.

Sometimes it’s difficult to believe in ourselves.  It’s natural to have self-doubt.  I suffer from it (more than I would like to admit), but I fight to overcome these doubts whenever they rise inside of me.

For example, when I embarked on earning my Masters in English, I experienced a nagging feeling that I wouldn’t be good enough.  That I wasn’t smart enough.  That I wasn’t skilled enough to attain it, yet those feelings didn’t stop me.  I fought through them, and never used the word can’t.

Eighteen months of virtually sleepless nights, I earned that degree, in stellar fashion (4.0 GPA).  Now, I’ve put that degree to work in this blog, although I do write fiction (short stories and a novel-in-progress).  To date I haven’t been published, but I know that with tenacity, someday I will achieve that as well.

The point of this post is to remember, never limit yourself.  Never set yourself up for failure.  Fight for what you want.  Go out and get it.  The only thing stopping you is you.
