Day 72: Struggling for Air – Not Always a Bad Thing

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

~ Maya Angelou

Ever been so surprised by someone else that the wind is knocked out of you?  I have, and even though I’m struggling to regain my breath, I’m smiling the entire time.  I experience this phenomenon quite often with my husband, Todd, and my children.  Sometimes they do or say something so kind that I’m not only speechless, I’m breathless as well.  It’s an exquisite feeling.

It’s these moments that give me pause.  That force me to look at life through a positive lens.  Sure, there are mounds of bad things happening around all of us, but those moments when we experience compassion and kindness from those around us is what makes life a success.  Makes life bearable in the face of catastrophe.  Thank you to all those who have taken my breath away.
