Day 61: Sometimes You’re the Windshield – Sometimes You’re the Bug

Either you run the day, or the day runs you.

~ Jim Rohn

I believe it’s better to be proactive than reactive.  It’s what today’s inspirational quote is talking about.  Shit happens, right?  You can let it dictate your days, or you can take charge of what happens after.  I don’t know about you, but I choose the latter.

There was a time in my life when it was a constant stream of reacting to what happened to me.  I never looked past a single event.  I found that when bad things happened, I reacted, and what followed was yet another terrible event.  All I did was keep my head up, endlessly treading water to stay afloat.

I did this for years, until one event, caused a cataclysmic shift in my mindset.  Instead of weathering it, I took charge of my life and made a change.  This single change made the biggest difference in my life and the lives of my children.

After that, I became proactive, even in the face of some random disaster in my life.  Instead of ducking and covering, I pushed forward with a plan to make it better or even to correct my course.  The simple action of being practical has made all the difference to me and to my life.
