“The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity.”
~ Amelia Earhart
Today’s inspirational quote speaks to me about the draining effects of procrastination. Delaying a need. Putting off the achievement of a goal. Avoiding a problem. Each one of these acts stalls our lives. At least it does mine. Even worse, by postponing a dream, a goal, or even a problem, it forces us to dawdle through life, sitting on a bench as a spectator.
Some 20 years ago, I decided that I wouldn’t put things off anymore, and to date, I don’t dilly-dally when I need to get something done or if I want to pursue a goal. Nope. I just jump in with both feet and get that shit done. How, you ask?
Tenacity.
No matter the hurdles laid out in front of me, I persistently follow my dreams, my goals, my aspirations. Sometimes I fail, which forces me to pick myself up and try again. But more times than not, I succeed. By sheer doggedness, I push through until I’ve attained what I want most.
This equally applies to problem solving. Faced with a dilemma, I dig my heels in and fix it. I don’t hesitate. I don’t ponder how terrible things are. I don’t worry that the quandary I’m in will never come to a resolution. Nope. I put on my big-girl pants, and push through, head on. Stubborn. Determined. Resolute.
Don’t hesitate in your life. Grab hold and take yourself to places you never thought you would go.
