“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
~ Michael Jordan
What today’s inspirational quote says to me is that failure breeds success. The only way to be successful is to keep trying – despite the odds – despite the failures – the key to accomplishment is tenacity. Success requires us to bite down like a bulldog, and hold on for dear life.
Even more, success requires us to believe in ourselves. To believe that we are capable of achieving what we want to. To believe that no matter what happens along the path to our dreams, we can overcome any obstacle. I know it sounds simple. But all it takes to achieve a dream is a belief in yourself and the tenacity to keep trying.
Keep in mind, it’s useful to surround yourself with people who believe in you as well, but there may be a time when you are all alone in your belief. It’s in these moments when you must reach down into yourself, and gather your courage and strength to pursue it on your own. Set your goals high and go for it. Waiting another day won’t get you any closer to reaching it.
